Lisa Bonet was born in San Francisco in November 1967, and is best known for her role as Denise Huxtable on The Cosby Show from 1984 to 1991.
She starred in the 1987 cult film Angel Heart along with Robert DeNiro and Mickey Rourke, which shattered her family-friendly façade with her nearly X-rated blood-soaked sex scene. She also appeared on Cosby’s follow-up show, A Different World, in 1987, as well as the 2006 reunion special. In 1998, she appeared with Will Smith in Enemy of the State, in High Fidelity in 2000 and in 2003’s Biker Boyz.
Bonet has also appeared as a guest star on shows such as New Girl, Ray Donovan, Girls, Life on Mars and The Red Road.
Throughout her career, she has earned nominations for Primetime Emmy Awards and Saturn Awards. In 1988, she won a Young Artist Award for Best Young Female Superstar in Motion Pictures for her role as Epiphany Proudfoot in Angel Heart.
In 1987, the actress eloped with Lenny Kravitz on her 20th birthday and the couple remained married for six years. She gave birth to their daughter, Zoë Kravitz, in 1988.
Bonet began dating Jason Momoa in 2005. The couple were rumored to have wed in 2007, but Bonet and Momoa had not made their nuptials official until they held a secret ceremony in October 2017 at their home in Topanga, California. In January 2022, the duo announced their split in a joint statement shared via Instagram.
Bonet and Momoa welcomed their daughter, Lola, in 2007 and son, Nakoa-Wolf, in 2009.
