Meeting Between Army and Fulani, Mangu Stakeholders in Plateau State Regarding Missing Ardo Panyam

On Tuesday, Major General AE Abubakar, the Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) and General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army, NA, held a meeting with Fulani and Mangu stakeholders at the Headquarters 3 Division. The meeting was called to address the issue of the missing Ardo Adamu, the Ardo of Panyam in Panyam district, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

In his address to the stakeholders, the GOC emphasized the importance of the engagement in improving security within the OPSH Joint Operation Area.

He expressed his disappointment over the unfortunate incident and cautioned against taking the law into their own hands, affirming that Operation Safe Haven is diligently working to uncover the truth and bring the perpetrators to justice.

General Abubakar stressed the need for a genuine commitment to achieving peace and highlighted the joint condemnation of criminal activities as a crucial step towards establishing a peaceful society.

Emphasizing the significance of Operation HAKORIN DAMISA IV, the commander mentioned its achievements in the Mangu general area and Plateau State as a whole.

He called on leaders at all levels to closely collaborate with security agencies in eradicating criminal elements and external forces that are intent on causing chaos in the state.

The GOC assured the stakeholders that OPSH would maintain fairness and justice in promoting peace on the Plateau.

Brigadier General DD Shippi (Rtd), the Special Adviser to the Plateau State Governor on Security, also spoke during the meeting, stressing the need to end the cycle of violence in the Mangu general area in order to achieve positive results in the peace process.

He reiterated the commitment of the Plateau State Government to fostering a peaceful society and welcomed the input from stakeholders as valuable contributions to the government’s efforts in effectively policing the state.

During the meeting, key stakeholders agreed that grassroots engagement is crucial in resolving the security challenges faced by the state. They also recognized the importance of reorienting the people as a significant step in addressing these challenges, while urging leaders to promote peace within their communities.
